Did you know that Davao is not only the abode to the mighty Philippine Eagle and the exotically beautiful Waling-Waling but is also a fruit basket, a seafood heaven and the home of the world class chocolates considered to be one of the most expensive and richest cocoa in many countries?
Unknown to many, the farm producing these world-class chocolates is just located in Calinan, Davao City. Cacao de Davao produces only but premium chocolates made from the finest cacao beans planted, harvested and sundried in Davao. The company adheres to the principle of promoting local products and helping the local farmers become globally competitive.
Cacao de Davao now produces different chocolates forms like, unsweetened callets, cocoa powder, cacao nibs, and everybody’s favorite ready-to-eat to chocolate bars that comes in Durian-filled Dark Chocolate, 70% Dark Chocolate and 50% Milk Chocolate.
During the Davao Food Appreciation Tour second pitstop at Mam Bebs Bakery, we were able to taste the Dark Chocolate bar and the cocoa drink make from the Cacao de Davao Cacao Powder.
The dark chocolates indeed has that the same kick of bitterness like you have in the imported chocolates that we get from other countries. I am not chocolatier or a chocolate connoisseur but with the chocolates I have tasted in my life, Cacao de Davao’s chocolate has something to be proud of. Who would think that we have them right just in our city?!
