You have not been to Davao if you have not visited Malagos Garden Resort or at least try one of their products.
Malagos Garden Resort has been one of the few resorts that I visited when we first toured Davao when I was a bit younger. I think every tourist would have Malagos on top of their head when you say Davao–I mean the food, the nature, the warmth of the people, and of course, the chocolate.
So I’ve compiled my favorite things to do and enjoy at Malagos Garden Resort.
- Watch the Interactive Bird Show (available during the weekend). This activity is a must for kids and kids at heart. I mean, I have been to this bird show about 5 times already and it still amuses me. The show is very educational and it gives vital information about the birds they have and how it impacts our nature!
- Enjoy their 10-station weekend lunch buffet. From your favorite fresh salad to cheese and appetizers, grilled items, and main dishes, you will surely not run out of things to eat at the Malagos Weekend Buffet lunch.
- Take a tour of the Malagos Chocolate Museum. The museum will take you on a journey of the award-winning Malagos Chocolate and its Tree to Bar story. The museum is interactive which means you can see, smell and even hear the stories. There are samples for you to see and towards the end of the museum, you can even try making your own chocolate!
- Go Bird Watching. Did you know that Malagos is home to many endemic birds that some biologists have a difficult time spotting in other places but can be seen regularly within the resort? During the Global Big Day last October 8, we learned that Malagos has been home to 73 bird species one of which is the Silvery Kingfisher. I was able to spot 9 of them that day!
Being home to 73 birds including some of the rarest kind is truly an accomplishment that Malagos Garden Resort can be proud of–that took a huge effort to make sure that even though the resort is open to the public, the resort remains home to these birds. During the Global Big Day, Malagos paid homage to the birds by launching their limited edition sleeves featuring six endemic bird species that live within the garden of Malagos. - Visit Malagos Homegrown if you are unavailable during the weekend. Malagos Homegrown is also known as the “Little Malagos” that is located in Matina Aplaya. Inside Malagos Homegrown, you can enjoy snack salad, pizza, and pasta or you can also enjoy Dampa’s fresh catch of the day–fresh seafood that you can request for grilling, soup, or prepared according to the availability of ingredients.
You can also buy your pasalubong here at the factory price–no need to go to the resort in Calinan. You can also buy some of their products like chocolates (of course), sauces, dressing, and even preserves.
You can book and make reservations for Malagos Garden Resort through their Facebook page or call them at 0917 624 5727.
Sounds great and well worth a visit !
