Street Food Delivered to Your Door Step by Indanganese Takoyaki

May 25, 2020
This quarantine has changed so many things in our life including the way we buy and consume food. They say this is the new normal but regardless of the normalcy I think the best take away we get in this situation is our capacity to be resilient and find ways to make our culture, or our way of living, to thrive.
That being said, dining options are now in the state of being “reconstructed” in order to fit the current health crisis and to become adaptive to the needs of people. Food deliveries and take out options have emerged to be the leading band-aid solution for many businesses and consumers. Options are limited but after more than two months of browsing through social media, many families and home cooks have come up with creative ideas to offer food options that you cannot find in many online restaurants just like Indanganese Takoyaki.
I usually cook at home but there are just food items that I cannot cook simply because my kitchen has no capacity to do such. I am not complaining too, because I know I can find some options online.
Here are some of the reasons why I loooooove this food so much:
  • There is not much street food available online.
  • Its the closest thing I have tried with the real takoyaki–it has octopus bits!
  • I have been binge-watching anime lately and all I can think about is ta-ko-ya-kiiiiii!
  • The flour is not cheap! I was told that they are using takoyaki flour which is already a mixture of flour and dashi that brings out a unique umami flavor.
  • Most takoyaki in the Philippines are made of vegetables ergo cabbages and that’s it! Indanganese Takoyaki uses vegetables, bonito flakes, aonori seaweed, and a variation of octopus bits, or quail egg. Did I mention they use Japanese mayonnaise as a garnish too?
Of course, its not as perfect compared to when you eat it hot and fresh from the grill but this is the closest I have eaten to the real thing. The price? For eight pieces of special takoyaki (octobits or quail egg), it is priced at Php140 (less than USD 3) and delivered to my door for a fee of Php70. The veggie version is at Php100.
You can order by sending them a message and arrange a delivery schedule. I ordered and tried the octo bits and quail egg and paid COD. Yes, I ate all 16pcs of takoyaki while enjoying another anime series online plus I get to see good friends Dyan and Chatty who are the power women behind this takoyaki idea.
Cheers, Dyan and Chachi! 🙂
