Davao City is known for its “highlands to islands” tourist features. This post will cover one highlight on the highland side of the city.
Malagos Garden Resort is probably one of the known Davao tourist spots that have been around since we were little kids. It surely brings nostalgia going back and seeing new and old attractions that will always light up the kid in you. Of course, any day trip will not be complete without a sumptuous buffet!
Opening after the pandemic with the heightened precaution of wearing masks, regular sanitation, and providing handwash areas, Malagos Garden Resort is now welcoming families and guests to enjoy their 10 Station Lunch Buffet. Yes, you have read it right! There are ten stations of different dishes for you to enjoy.
For non-pork eaters like me, it was a super plus that all their dishes are pork-free except for the Lechon Baboy that is available in their carving station. Each station also has servers to prevent too many hands from touching the serving utensils.
Here are the 10 buffet stations that you can enjoy at Malagos Garden Resort weekend lunch buffet:
- Soup and bread station – Their soup varies from local and international dishes too. During our visit, we tried the monggo soup and paired it with their fluffy bread 🥰
- Pinoy street food station – You can get fish balls, squid balls, and even quiqiam! Malagos has a tasty homemade dip for this that you should try! They also have banana or kamote cue!
- Appetizer station – At this station, select some cold cuts, canapes, and light savory dishes to entice your appetite!
- Salad Bar station – Would it be Malagos without fresh salad?!
- Pinoy sorbetes station – More nostalgia please! You have an actual Filipino ice cream truck in the middle of the buffet stations! You can enjoy what Filipinos call dirty ice cream but of course, those are not dirty!
- Cakes, native kakanin, and chocolate fountain station – For the sweet tooth, this is your spot. The dessert varies according to the menu but you will have something that will make your taste buds happy! But of course, would it be Malagos without their local chocolate and a fountain that comes with it?
- Rice, vegetable, and savory dish station – For Filipinos, rice is life thus this station is one of the highlights of the buffet! You can also find other savory viands here.
- Pasta station – Feeling Italian but wanted the Filipino take on pasta? You can find at least 3 pasta here to choose from.
- Grilled and carving station – This is the only station that has pork because of the crowd-pleaser Lechon Baboy. They have other grilled items too like grilled chicken inasal but the menu again varies from time to time.
- Tempura station – Shrimp or vegetable tempura, anyone?
Here is a tip for you to enjoy your buffet:
The carving station gets super busy after people come in and the line gets a bit long shortly after the opening. So make sure to be at the buffet before the opening OR wait for 30 minutes when people have all queued up. You either be the first or just wait for the crowd to finish. There will always be food!
Their weekend buffet lunch opens at 11:00 AM (shortly after the bird show) and ends at 2:00 PM (just before another show opens)
