Have you noticed how Tulip Drive has become the next food hub here in Davao? A handful of resto has sprouted within this neighborhood within the last 3 years, especially during the recovery period (post-lockdown). Momo’s Comfort Food is one of them.
Momo’s is a small business that started with only a food delivery option since it was born in the middle of the lockdown. Their concept is pretty straightforward–offer comfort food that families at home can enjoy. Several months after opening, they renovated their dining area to accommodate dine-in customers.
Momo’s Food, Dining Experience, and Value for Money
Food is 8/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐. I am very pleased with the dishes I’ve tried so far. I enjoy their non-pork alternatives even after my second and third visits. The food is consistently cooked in terms of flavor, temperature, and presentation. I have been re-ordering their crispy chicken kare-kare and even my sisters would give thumbs up to Momo’s dishes.
Dining experience 7/10 ⭐⭐⭐. I like their dining area even if it gets cramped at certain hours but you can always look at the bright side–it’s intimate. At night, you’ll get a bonus 3D lights display on the wall (or curtain) which adds to the experience. Do not get lost on your way to the comfort room though. It can get a bit confusing.
Value for money 9/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Compared to nearby restos, Momo’s is really affordable. Their portion is big enough that a Php200 meal will make you super full. They are also running a 50% discount on Grab Food for a minimum order of Php499 (discount capped at Php250) which will be available until the end of the month.
Some areas for improvement at Momo’s
- Expanding their menu choices – I think Momo’s can benefit if they continue to feature new dishes, especially for their dessert. I love the variety in their menu–salad and pasta are even available.
- Parking – might be a bit of a challenge which is an issue on space and nothing can be done about it really unless they procure the adjacent lot but it is what it is and so manage expectations.
- Takeaway containers – I have ordered their food via Grab Food and I have received a container a little too small for the rice and kare-kare (obvious favorite). This might be an isolated incident but it happened twice already so this should be reconsidered.
Overall, I would still recommend Momo’s. It offers a comforting dining experience and reliable food, every time. This is something that many restos should learn which is to be consistent.
On your visit, try their Crispy Chicken Kare-Kare (Php199 rice bowl | Php298 platter for sharing), Lumpia Ubod (Php80), Tofu Teriyaki (Php159 rice bowl), and Freshly Squeezed Lemonade (Php100 large size).
